Ashley Dominguez Reflection blog #2
Hi everyone!!!!
2
Welcome to blog #2. In today’s blog I will be giving another reflection about me and my classmates groups presentation I’d like to share the experience my classmates and I journey on preparing and delivering our recent project. This experience was not just about presenting information; it was about collaboration, learning. Overcoming any challenges together. From the initial planning stages to the final delivery, our group navigated the complexities of teamwork, research, and public speaking. Join me as I reflect on our process, the highs and lows we encountered, and the invaluable lessons we learned along the way.
The
backstory to this assignment is that each group was assigned a certain topic.
Each group had to complete a PowerPoint linked to the topic to one of the
themes. Everyone came together and was responsible for gathering information
about several common mental health disabilities. For instance, Group 3 was
Anxiety, Group 2 was Autism Spectrum and the group I am assigned to, which is
group 1 was responsible for Specific learning disabilities.
Reflections
Group 3, this group consisted of my classmates Nicolas, Paulette, Zainab etc. Once the presentation started group 3 came out and presented their study guide. Their study guide consisted of the chapters 12-14. Reflecting on my classmate’s study guide, I was impressed by the thoroughness it demonstrated. The guide covered keys topics and its concept was clear and concise. It included summaries, and key points which are extremely important when it comes to a study guide. Next, they started presenting the main assignment which was PowerPoint. Group 3 covered the subject ANXIETY, reflecting on the group presentation, the information provided gave insight into both the subject matter and the dynamics of working as a team. Researching and discussing anxiety, highlighted how pervasive and impactful the issue is in various aspects of life. Each member of brought unique Perspectives, personal experience, enriching our understanding and fostering a deeper understanding of the topic. The collaboration allowed them to create a comprehensive presentation that not only covered the theoretical aspects of anxiety but also offered practical strategies for managing it. Through the presentation, I developed a higher awareness of how anxiety manifests and the importance of empathy and support of addressing it.
Group 2, In this group it consisted of other classmates such as Henry, Luis, Jamine, Maya etc. Autism Spectrum was their main topic however everyone had a subtopic. This group presentation opened my eyes tremendously. It was an enlightening experience especially since I am not familiar with the Autism world. Through their research, graphs, images, and discussions, I gained a greater appreciation for the diverse ways of ASD and the significance of early diagnosis and intervention. Group 2 explored various facets of ASD, including the behavior and social aspects as well as the challenges faced by individuals with autism and their families. The presentation underscored the critical role of awareness and education in an inclusive society. They emphasized the need for support, community-based resources to assist those on the spectrum. Reflecting on the feedback from the presentation not only did it enhance my knowledge and empathy but also reinforced the importance of advocacy and continuous learning in addressing the needs of the autism community.
Group 1, Our group also started with the study guide, The guide begins with an overview of the key themes and objectives, which helps in setting a clear focus. This introductory section acts as a roadmap, allowing you to understand the big picture before diving into the specifics. By outlining the essential concepts and terminologies at the beginning, the guide ensures that it is equipped with the foundational knowledge required to tackle more complex topics later. I believe our presentation was very informative and highlighted the deep understanding of the complexities and nuances associated with these conditions. I can say that the presentation highlighted the importance of roles such as educators, parents’ specialist in providing support. Our team delved into various types of SLD’s, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, challenges and the impact on learning and everyday life. I felt that each person in our group was very diverse and unique which made our presentation stand out with having a little bit of individuality from each member in the presentation. Our main goal of communication was to inform the rest of the class about what exactly each topic is, discuss where each one is found, and how they are influenced in today's society. From the start of the group presentation process, I believe our group did good as a team in communicating and putting everything together. As time went on our group started to get our stuff together. I was thankful for Bania for stepping up and helping the group when others were not able to speak up and present. I believe out presentation gave a sparked valuable discussion about improving educational practice and resources for students with SLDs. This experience only broadened my understanding of the struggle faced with SLDs however the importance of education in fostering a more inclusive supportive learning environment.
In conclusion, looking back at our group presentation
experience with my classmates, I am struck by the power of collaboration and
collective effort in achieving a common goal. From the initial planning stages
to final delivery, each member brought their unique perspective, skills, and
insights to the table, contributing to comprehensive and engaging
presentations. Working alongside my peers provided valuable opportunities for
learning and growth as we worked out way through complexities of each chosen
topic. Our collaboration allows us to encounter differing opinions, scheduling
conflicts, and any hurdles along the way, however everyone’s open communication
allowed us to navigate challenges effectively. As I prepared for our
presentation, I was inspired by the depth of knowledge of each member of our
group. The presentation itself was a peak of our collective efforts, and I am
proud of our project. Together I believe we all did a great job and delivered a
compelling and informative presentation that captivated everyone. Last, our
group presentation experience was more than just an academic exercise- it was a
journey of personal and professional experience. Through teamwork,
communication and shared thoughts we not only achieved our academic goals but
also created team bonds and cultivated skills and knowledge that will serve us
well in the future.
