Group 3: This presentation from group 3 was very well described and everyone talked and elaborate very well in their different ways. The presentation itself was so creative and I loved the images and descriptions in each slide. It was very informative and easy to read and digest. What I learned about group 3’s presentation is the history of anxiety , and I found it so fascinating to learn about it. I never knew that anxiety in the 1600s it was called a melancholia condition, then fast forward to the 1700s it was called “panophobia” and scientists realized anxiety symptoms can have categories, and then in the 1950s the first manual published and it was called “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders”. I feel like a lot of people don’t take people with anxiety, and I have anxiety. I have panic attacks and I stick by this statement of some people not taking me seriously and that I’m being dramatic. And I loved learning about the different forms of anxiety, which are : panic disorders, social anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, and lastly separation anxiety. Anxiety is a natural and common thing to have, and I’m happy that there’s so many people that understand and support it. It is rough but if you have the right support system you will be okay! In my opinion , the best solution, and this is what helps me at least, , do yoga ,gymnastics stretches , I repeat affirmations to myself while listening to rain sounds, it calms my anxiety down and it feels relaxing. And I agree with how anxiety is perceived in the United States, the awareness is important and it’s very real! Anyone can have access to therapy and medications; it just all depends on money. A piece of information that I found  intriguing in the slide of “Research” is that anxiety is genetic and I didn’t know that until now . I loved that they explained the Latin word “anxius” which signifies worried, disturbed, and uneasy. As someone with anxiety, another thing that really helps me calm down is hugs/ getting hugged by someone I love, and when you hug someone for a long time it can heal their heart and a happy chemical is released in hugging, and that makes me so happy just by thinking about it. I was always the biggest hugger ever growing up and I still am. It’s crazy how everyday research is getting more and more advanced by the day with anxiety and any medical disorders in general. Anyone with anxiety , people should have patience with them and be understanding. Mental health is very real and it can take a dark toll on you if you let it, trust me, I speak from experience. So it’s very important to have an amazing support system, whether it be from your family, friends, boyfriend, girlfriend etc. Overall, the presentation was fantastic! Everyone did a really good job explaining all the research and information they found about anxiety! It was very informative!

Group 2: Group 2’s presentation was once again, informative and everyone did a fantastic job explaining each and every slide! I think the topic of autism is so different and I like learning more about it, so the fact that group 3 talked about it was awesome ! I found it cool that teaching children to accept others in life is a very beautiful critical skill. And I also like that children and teachers with autism can make a great connection. And you know me with history behind a topic! I love to keene the origin and where it came from so the history of autism really grasped my eye ! In 1911, the word “autism” was first used by Eugen Bleuler. It was cool learning thay the term was first used in the 1900s! Also a nice piece of historic information, Leo Kanner worked with Asperger and studied more affected children. And that children that were studied by Leo presented difficulties to adapt to social environments and had good memory! Luis Corniel  explained it very well! Jasmine Monteiro also explained the types of autism slide with so much passion! The different types of autism are: autistic disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, and pervasive developmental disorder- not otherwise specified! And this was my first time hearing about Pervasive Developmental Disorder: I didn’t even know that existed, but this is what I love about watching other people’s presentations: you learn new things! The Ausome scholarship was so phenomenal, once again, I had no idea that was a thing! It's really great! Group 2 did an amazing job and everyone worked together so nicely and the presentation is great, very creative and fun and colorful!

Group 1: As for my group, group 1, we all did great and put our efforts into researching all these different learning disabilities and it was cool learning about them! Claudius Bartiett did a really good job on explaining what visual perceptual is and the images he chose were very nice and awesome to look at! And when he played his video of visual perceptual was very informative and nice to watch. The video for non-verbal disability was also nice to watch and I learned so many new things. A learning disability that I never ever heard of until now was : dyscalculia. And I love learning about different new things so this slide caught my eye. It’s a learning disorder that can affect a persons ability to do math. And looking back, I think I have because since childhood I was never good at math and I hated learning it and it affected me so much! I couldn’t handle number and math related problems, my mind would just blank, so that was cool to learn about it and the name. I love my group and I love how in every presentation we get creative, we help each other and we are well bonded because we all make good decisions by talking and agreeing all with each other, so, I’m happy and proud of my group’s presentation. Everyone was fantastic and very involved!
