Learning about our societies disabilities

The first group to present was group 3, they had chapter 4, 11, 12, 13, & 14 for the study guide. They had a really good layout for their study guide, they all gave good summaries on what the chapters were about and they also separated it by even small chapters instead of doing one chapter per person they took the time to divide it evenly with everyone in the group. As for their presentation they had Anxiety. The most important thing i learned is Anxiety is a mental health disorder categorized by the feeling of fear and uneasiness. Anxiety has been around for a long time since the 1600s but it took doctors a long time to discover anxiety and understand what it was. People have different understandings and opinions about anxiety, there are a lot of cultures in which believe that anxiety isn't real, and there are also others who have anxiety in which practice yoga and drink tea to help them when they get anxious. There are different forms of anxiety and different causes, Group 3 did an amazing job in explaining Panic Disorders, Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD),  Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Separation Anxiety. They also demonstrated different ways in which helps cope with anxiety such as therapy, medication, support groups, lifestyle changes, and avoiding triggers. I believe that a way in which group 3 could have improved is by adding key terms in their study guide. It is nothing major but I believe that key terms are an important part of the chapters because it is commonly used words throughout the readings in which we should understand and have a definition of. Group 3 did an amazing job, they really went into detail explaining what anxiety was, how to cope with it, different triggers, and even talked about the history of it. Everyone in the group did really well, everyone had a chance to speak multiple times and they all were ready for when their turn came. They do very well working as a group.

The following group to present was Group 2. They worked on chapters 5, 15,16,17. The study guide they created included the key terms and definitions, key points, and a summary of each chapter. They also did a good layout for their study guide, it was done in a document but with the information they included a powerpoint would have also been nice. As for the presentation they had Disabilities in Society. There are many types of autism such as Autistic disorder, Aspergers syndrome, and Persuasive Developmental Disorder - Not otherwise specifies (PDD-NOS)Maya's segment on how to get involved was particularly noteworthy. She highlighted various ways to support individuals with disabilities, such as joining associations, volunteering, donating money, and participating in community events. This practical advice was valuable for promoting inclusion and awareness. Group 2 explained the history of disabilities, the struggles faced by individuals with disabilities, and methods to spread awareness and get involved. Their presentation was informative and engaging, but a more diverse range of disabilities could have made it even stronger. The group's coordination was excellent, with each member knowing exactly when to present their part, demonstrating their strong teamwork and organizational skills. Group 2 has also been very good at working as a team, they always work good together when presenting and are very orderly, everyone knew when to go on and present and they had no issues.

Last but certainly not least my group (group 1) was the last one to present. I think I did a good job on the study guide, I created a presentation and included the key terms,  learning objectives, and a summary of each chapter. We could have worked on everyone presenting a slide but nobody was able to make a decision only Albania chose her slide and worded it in a way in which worked for her so I took initiative and just presented most of the study guide. We did chapters 1,2,6,7,8 and we were able to give a brief summary on each chapter. I also believe we did way better than our first presentation, for the most part everyone presented when they had to, we could have been more attentive but that it is totally okey.  Our powerpoint was also pretty informative and organized, we were the only group to create a powerpoint for the study guide and the only ones to include videos in our powerpoint. I believe that including the videos helped us explain better the learning disabilities because you also got a visual representation, it is not easy explaining all of the learning disabilities because although they have a lot in common each of them have their own differences as well. I believe we did an amazing job, we improved a lot from last presentation and from here on out it will just get better. As a group we didn't even know that there were so many learning disabilities, some are more known than others so for some learning disabilities we were able to find more information than with others. We also had to communicate with our professor in order for her to help us make sure we got accurate learning disabilities and to go over what they were just to make sure we understood what we were talking about.

In conclusion, as a class, we did an amazing job presenting. We have learned a lot in this course, and our presentations showcased the significant improvement we've made in a short amount of time. Working in groups has been a valuable experience for learning teamwork. The more assignments we complete, the closer we become to our group members, and the better we get at communicating and collaborating effectively. The presentations highlighted the importance of thorough preparation, effective communication, and teamwork. Each group brought unique strengths and insights, contributing to an overall informative and engaging series of presentations. This experience has been invaluable in enhancing our understanding of the topics and our ability to work collaboratively.
