Welcome to SPC1017, or rather Introduction to Communication. Today I will be reviewing the group projects that groups one, two, and three presented on May 15th and to give you my opinions on each group presentation.
The group that started first was Group Three and they presented Group Leadership and Problem Solving. The members of the group included Tailynn Lorenz, Zainab Awale, Nicholas Mejia, Nickolas Novoa, Michael Consuegra, Monica Zambrano, Paulette Landivar, and Vickiana Nazario. Their presentation started off with an introduction by Regina Mason, the class leader of SCP1017. The Introduction brought the audience a general idea about the topic before they went into detail on them. Then they started off with leadership, Task Roles, and Maintenance Roles. I like how simple/easy they made it for the audience to understand. I liked how the presenter gave the audience good in-depth details and personal examples about each topic and enjoyed the pictures that represented each topic. The next topics were Procedural Roles, Shared Leader Responsibilities, and Effective Meetings. In these slides, I liked the pictures used in them and also enjoyed them using the pictures to describe the topic. I also liked how informed they were on these topics, knowing all these different roles and the responsibilities of these different roles. I liked how they were giving out good information that I and others would be able to use personally when describing the objectives and responsibilities of these different roles. The next topics were Guidelines for Meeting Leaders, Guidelines for Meeting Participants, and Systematic Problem Solving. Throughout these slides, I was fascinated by the in-depth discussion of the different agendas used in meetings and in systematic problem-solving. I liked the pictures used in them; they represented the topics that were discussed. Overall, the Good three presentations gave the audience new in-depth information on their topic Group Leadership and Problem Solving.
The group that presented after group three was group two. Group Two’s presentation was on Communicating in Group. The presenters were Jasmine Monteiro, Luis Corniel, Maya Remirez De Estenoz, Lisbeth Triana, Katherine Pineda, Leonardo Preciado, Henry Aguirre, Jesus Pazo Gomez, and Kameron Presume. Group two starts their presentation on slides with The Nature and Types of Groups, Families, and Social Groups. What I liked about these slides were the GIFS moving pictures used to show the audience an example of their topics. I also liked how informed the presenter was on the subjects they presented. The following slides were about Support Groups and Interest Groups. What I liked about these slides were detailed descriptions of what a support group is, what they achieve, and who they aid and for Interest Groups. I liked the picture they used because it shows a common goal between the group members. Following this were Service Groups. What I liked about this slide was that it basically shows the audience what it is, what they accomplish, and how they accomplish it. Another slide I was interested in was the Healthy Groups: Ethical Goals. I liked this slide because it demonstrates the difference between unethical and ethical goals, and it is very important in today’s society to know the difference between them. Continuing it was Healthy Groups: Interdependent, what I liked about this slide was learning that everything needs a stable balance, and I liked it when she used a cheerleading pyramid as an example of it. Overall, I enjoyed this presentation by group two because it taught me very new things about Communicating in Groups.
The last group to present was my group. Group one presented on Intercultural Communication. This presentation was created by Daniella Liscano, Ashley Dominguez, Albania Gonzalez, Claudius Bartlett, Giovanna Neves, Carlos Alonso, Carlos Acanda, Maria Valeria De Sousa, and me Christopher Dennert. Our presentation starts off with Culture and Communication. I liked these two slides because the presenter gave us a precise description of what culture means and what it means to different people's cultural values. The following side was about communication, I liked this side because Intercultural communication is probably one of the most important things to know about when you are not in your culture but in a different one. Continuing this presentation, another one I liked was the race. Race is a very important topic to know and understand since today race is a very problematic subject with many different people. Continuing with Ethnicity/ Native Language, this topic is an important topic to know because it talks about all the different ethnicities from all around the world and people’s first language being their ethnicity. Native Language is important to learn because it is what connects people through their common language; also liked the example she used when comparing her ethnicity to her mother’s ethnicity. Another important slide was Sex and Gender. Sex and Gender is a very crucial and important topic to know in today’s society with the growth of cross-gendering and following this is Sexual Orientation. I liked this topic because it showed the audience gender identity, gender expression, what that specific gender is physically attracted to, and what that specific gender is emotionally attracted to. Sexual Orientation goes into depth with the major topic of one’s gender. Overall, group one’s presentation on Intercultural Communication is very informative and well done. This presentation had lots of information that is highly important in today’s world and many pictures that represented the importance of that topic.
In Conclusion, Groups one, two, and three presentations were all wonderfully done and presented. I was able to grasp new information on all these different subjects that I hadn’t known of beforehand and the new information I have learned from this will help me with things that I can experience in my life.
Excellent reflection!
